This page is the outcome of 10 trips to Richmond Park between June & November 2024. Thanks to To Tom, John & Ric for the company.
Richmond Park is an amazing place, herds of Red & Fallow Deer roam freely. Pen Ponds hold an abundance of birdlife as does the rest of the park.
The rutting season is a thing to behold, sadly it is marred by the weekend warriors on a couple of occasions we saw large groups of "photographers" chasing and harassing the Red Deer stags.  Surrounding a stag so it has no where to go and I am sure most of their shots would have had another photographer in the background.
The sad thing is they they are missing so many opportunities by turning around and looking. Yes the big stag with large antlers can look spectacular but there is so much much more.

5.15am early morning mist still clearing, wonderfully calm.

I love the juxtaposition of the deer in the mist and the tower blocks in the background.

Young fawn with mum, so relaxing to see.

I wish I knew what had been seen.

But something else soon caught its attention

2 young stags with starlings, I love the relationship with them and jackdaws too, fur picked of insects  aids the deer and feeds the birds

Love the pensive look and the grass stems in the mouth.

Young fallow in bracken

Young fallow stag, looking very dainty compare to the reds

A fine rack of antlers, should be there or there abouts come the rut.

I just loved the expression

Guard duty

Stag bulking up for the rut

Really who needs a lawn mower

Trying to look innocent

It wasn't us honest mister

Another contender

A bit half hearted

Likewise

Locking horns

Looking about

Love a damp day too, brings out the fur texture

King of all he surveys

Watching me watching him

just loved the look again

So much texture

Love the way the light caught the antlers

Beverley Brook early morning mist

The watchers

Those points could do some damage

Sometimes the light is just right
